Art is the antidote to a fast-paced life
Everything moves fast. Most of what we fill our homes with can be ordered in the evening and be here the next day – and then it's forgotten again.
That's why real art matters more now than ever. A painting can't be scrolled away. It hangs there every day and does something to the room. It adds feeling, and it gives a home personality. It's one of the few things in the house that wasn't chosen because it was practical.
A commission is the most direct way there. We start with your room, your light and the mood you want to come home to. From there, I paint.
I only take on a few commissions at a time, so there's room to immerse myself in each work.
Many people choose to add a little symbolism to their piece. It might be a certain number of swans or butterflies, one for each member of the family, or another quiet sign that only you know the meaning of. That detail is often what makes the work truly yours.
It's also the most personal gift you can give. I've painted works for weddings, for people who've just had their first child, and for milestone birthdays, and it's one of the things I love most about my work. The day passes, but the work stays on the wall for many years after.
How it works
1. You write to me
Tell me briefly about the room and what you're dreaming of. Feel free to send a photo of the wall.
2. We find the direction
We talk about colours, size, technique and mood. I'll tell you honestly what I think will work in your space.
3. I paint
The work comes to life in my studio. You'll get photos along the way so you can follow the process.
4. It comes home to you
Within the EU, the work is delivered ready to hang. If it's travelling further, it's shipped rolled in a tube.
The practical side
Size
I love working on large canvases, and they're also what I make most of. Every canvas is built to measure, so you can get exactly the size that fits your wall. Unusual sizes too, if the work needs to fit a particular spot.
Time
It typically takes 3-4 months from order to delivery. A painting needs time.
Price
The price depends on size, technique and your wishes for the work. Write to me and we'll work it out together.
Questions I often get
Can I choose the colours?
Yes. We set the colour direction together based on your room. I paint intuitively, so you're commissioning a mood rather than a copy of a particular image.
Can I get something similar to one of your earlier works?
I don't make copies. But if you've fallen for a particular work, we can use it as a starting point for something new in the same world.
Can I follow along?
Yes. You'll get photos from the studio while the work is being made, and we'll talk if anything needs adjusting.
